Like An Old Friend...

I just love it when my multi-lingual world-traveler friend stops by for an unexpected visit.

This error is an old favorite from the MacOS X camp...  Restart!

Oh, I Get It... Wait...

Ok let's see....

OK, indeed...

"Due to the multifunction, despite idle screen, it can be failed to connect."

Oh, I get it. . .  No, wait. . .  Nope, I've got nothing.

It Has a Great Beat and You Can Dance To It!

It has a great beat and you can dance to it... or you may go insane.

Either way, keep on dancing!

The Previous Error

This error (via 365questions.org) kinda sums up last week.

A New Blank Disk...

A new blank disk, huh? What kind of disk did they think I was going to use?

Perhaps a cracked and scuffed copy of Hudson Hawk?

How Long Can This Keep Going On?

The image above is an actual screenshot from an upload my computer was performing a few days ago. If you look closely you'll see that the estimated time remaining has moved into the negative digits. You might also note that (at the time of the screenshot) the upload was 109% complete.

That's right... 109% complete, with negative time remaining!

What I really want to know is... will I ever get this time back?

A Little More Info Would Be Nice

I like iDVD. It's simple... It's fast... It gets the job done... At least most of the time. For more complex jobs, I jump right into DVD Studio Pro, or even hire someone else's services to meet the greater challenges of DVD authoring.

On rare occasions, iDVD has issues. The error (pictured above) kept springing up each time I tried to author a DVD... It would've been helpful if the error message had included a little more information...

Like perhaps WHICH asset, rendering/encoding, or menu/slideshows was causing the error. Slideshow? Hey wait, this project didn't even have a slide show!

Ultimately, I was able to complete the project (on time!) through trial and error, but I never did figure it out exactly what was causing the problem.

Do I really want to know?

Frequently Bought Together

Uncle Sam with Ketchup, originally uploaded by Gregory Tipton.

Uncle Sam cereal with ketchup...? Ketchup with xylitol in it...? Does Amazon.com just make this stuff up? Seriously, it would make me feel better to know that these combinations were just randomly created by a staff member with a sickening sense of humor.

Frequently bought together...? I just can't get it out of my mind...

This is like having an automobile engine cleaned by a professional formula one pit crew, and then pouring a three liter bottle of Mr. Pibb into the crankcase.

I cannot help but wonder... Surely... Oh, surely those who purchase these two products aren't consuming them (oh please no!) as part of the same meal!?!

I think my "ack-o-meter" just red-lined.

I could really use a good computer crash... but things have been running very well recently. Stupid Mac.

Corduroy.

This is not strictly an alert or error, so please forgive me.

Following an "Audio Palette Crash Error," whatever *that* may be, an entire After Effects pane went um.... corduroy.

The "Blue Screen of Death" says hello.

Leopard Get's Kinda Rude, originally uploaded by Gregory Tipton.

This is the icon / image that greeted me when I attempted to access my XP machine tonight via the Mac Pro running Leopard. Ouch. I think the Apple folks are hitting a little below the belt with this one.

Wait, What Was That?

Wait, What Was That?, originally uploaded by Gregory Tipton.
Ok, Vimeo... ummm... Wait, so you're telling me that video uploading has been disabled...

Or are you saying that things are running just a little slow and I should keep going...

Because if you want me to keep going, I can try to do that... But, if uploading has indeed been disabled, I can't very well keep loading these files "up" to your website... and I am afraid that all my efforts will likely be wasted...

I'm really confused now.

I Want Candy....

I was somewhat impressed that After Effects used a word like "invoking," but I was even more amazed with how this particular "crash" effected the colors of the alert panel. I especially like the "candy-stripe" effect.

Please note that the rest of the computer display was unaffected by the Spirit of Christmas.

'No Go' - Delta's In-Flight Internet Service

I really enjoyed my time NOT being able to surf the world-wide-web on my somewhat recent Caribbean-Atlantic Delta flight.

Funny thing... They even talked on the P.A., while we were taxiing on the runway, about how great this new WiFi feature was going to be... I was looking forward to it.

Bummer...

Cryptic After Effects Error

After Effects Error, originally uploaded by Gregory Tipton.

This was an After Effects error I had never experienced in my 15 years of being a regular user of the app.

Thankfully, I haven't seen the error again since this occurance.

How Many Trasheses Can One Computer Have?

Too Many Trashesezz, originally uploaded by Gregory Tipton.

Evidently the virtual trash cans were everywhere.... and when an attempt was made to empty one of them, a new 'empty the trash' message would pop up on top...

Bwahahaha! This was nothing a hard-boot couldn't fix!

Wake up Neo.
